The Center for Latin American Political Studies (CLAPS) is an institution member of GIRES, the Global Institute for Research, Education and Scholarship. 

The main goal of CLAPS is to promote research and education about modern and contemporary Latin America’s most pressing political-issues from a multi-interdisciplinary and global perspective. 

By focusing on crucial topics such as Democracy, Citizenship, Equality-Inequality, Political Violence, Conflict and Post-conflict, Arts & Literature, and International Affairs the center aims to stimulate a global understanding of Latin America, past and present. In the pursuit of this aims, the center supports scholarly work that privileges the dialogue between the local and the global from humanistic and social science’s approaches in the field of political studies.
