Aitor Díaz-Maroto Isidro, PhD
Aitor Díaz-Maroto Isidro obtained his PhD in in Latin America and the European Union in the international context from the University of Alcala (UAH) in 2020 with the thesis “Luces, cámaras y…¡Fuego! Los relatos históricos de la violencia política en el País Vasco y Colombia a través de la gran pantalla (1964-2017)”. He is specialized in political violence in Latin America and Europe and the relations between History and Culture. He has a master’s degree in España Contemporánea en el contexto internacional from the National University of Distance Education (UNED), in Formación del Profesorado de ESO, Bachillerato, Formación Profesional y Enseñanza de Idiomas from the University of Alcalá and Graduated in History from the University of Alcalá (UAH). He has carried out a doctoral stay during the year 2018 at the University of Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano (UTADEO) in Colombia.
Currently, he is a “Margarita Salas” postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alcalá and carries out his research work at the Cátedra Iberoamericana de Excelencia URJC Santander “Presdeia”. He is a researcher from Centro de Estudios Americanos from the Adolfo Ibañez University (Chile) and Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Latinoamericanos (Spain). He is currently researching the role of victims of political violence and terrorism in cinema in the Basque Country and Colombia. Similarly, he is opening his research to the guerrilla interrelationship in Latin America and the transition from armed groups to democratic political formations. He has several publications like “Cine y el silencio de las armas. Un nuevo relato cinematográfico para el final de las FARC y la continuidad del conflicto en Colombia (2010-2017)” or “Los inicios del cine sobre el conflicto en Colombia: Guerrillas, ‘la violencia’ y una interpretación del pasado particular”.
