Saranya Suresh is currently enrolled as a final year post graduate student at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and specialises in Peace and Conflict Studies. She is passionate about conflict resolution and peace building activities. Her course gave her the opportunity to analyse and study topics like Gender, Human Rights, Violence, Conflict Resolutions, Migrations, Environmental Justice and Border studies.
She graduated in Commerce as top of her class from the SRM Institute of Science and Technology. Her interest and passion drove her to change her field of study to social sciences. She has been an active participant and an enthusiastic social work volunteer during her college days. She has been associated with various social cause drives ranging from Environmental Awareness Campaigns to Sanitary Napkin distribution in villages of Chennai, India.
She is a very motivated individual who has always held roles of responsibilities in school and university levels. She has been the Coordinator of department events in college and also holds the position of the Student Placement Coordinator at Tata Institute of Social Sciences for 2020-21. She is hardworking student capable of critical thinking and possessing a creative mind. She remains committed to her goals and inspired to achieve them. She possesses qualities and interest required to lift up and connect others academically.
She believes in the mantra- ‘To solve an issue, we need to first address the issue’. It is necessary to stay connected with academicians of a field to have a better clarity and understanding of any issue. She emphasises that looking at an issue or topic from various angles is essential to analysing or solving it.
