
Samuel Gutestrand Mandaric, MA
Samuel Gutestrand Mandaric currently serves as the Course Director for a two-year laboratory technician program at a Higher Vocational Education institution in Sweden.
He holds a Master of Arts in Education with a specialization in Science Education from Södertörn University, which he obtained in 2018. Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in History of Science and Ideas from Umeå University in 2020. Furthermore, he successfully completed his PhD coursework at the Faculty of Education and Arts at Nord University in 2023.
His primary field of interest is the history of Scandinavian marine research during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with a specific focus on hydrographic and biological marine research in the Baltic Sea, Skagerrak, and Kattegat. Another area of interest involves exploring the history of Swedish and Norwegian polar exploration in the Arctic during the same era.
Samuel actively participates in The National Ocean Literacy Network, overseen by the Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment, and The National Polar Research Network, coordinated by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat. He is also a member of The International Commission of the History of Oceanography.
