Paola Di Maio, PhD

Dr. Paola Di Maio is a systems analyst, research scholar, and technical author specializing in knowledge systems, AI ethics, and socio-technical design.

She holds a PhD from the University of Strathclyde (UK) and an MSc from the University of Kent.Her interdisciplinary work spans systems thinking, knowledge representation, algorithmic auditing, and human-technology interaction.

She is affiliated with IGDORE and was a member of Ronin Institute while she has held academic positions across Europe and Asia.

Paola chairs the W3C AI Knowledge Representation Community Group and actively contributes to open science and global standards initiatives.
She has lectured at institutions such as NCKU Taiwan, MFU Thailand, and IIT Mandi India.

Her research also explores neurodiversity, non-invasive neuromodulation, and the ethical dimensions of emerging technologies. She was a long-standing columnist for the “Mindful Technology” series, bridging science, ethics, and society. As a keynote speaker and international panelist, she engages in dialogues on neuroethics, digital transformation, and sustainability.
