Frederick Wong, M.Arch

Frederick Wong founded AWORKS in 2005 after working for various architects and interior designers in San Francisco and Hong Kong. His designs emphasize proportions, materials and atmospheres. A design process of distillation to an essence of calmness and solidity can be seen in his works. He believes in a collaborative approach with his clients, and through this method unique places of comfort are created.

Frederick studied architecture at U.C. Berkeley and Columbia University and now teaches at Chu Hai College and The University of Hong Kong. He began teaching in 2007 and is now Assistant Professor at Chu Hai College’s Architecture Department where he is responsible for teaching third year undergraduate architecture design studio and “Film, Architecture and Urbanism” at graduate level. He assists in teaching “Traditional Chinese Houses and Gardens” at undergraduate level at The University of Hong Kong’s Department of Architecture.

He is a design consultant for Adapa Architects Limited. He is a member of American Institute of Architects, the Architectural Association London, Hong Kong Interior Design Association and Hong Kong Designers Association and his motto is: “[…]all beautiful things are made by those who strive to make something useful.” (Oscar Wilde)
