Corneliu C Simut, PhD

Corneliu C Simut is Senior Vice-Chancellor Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Faculty of Theology and Religion within the University of Pretoria, working under the supervision of Professor Johan Buitendag. He holds a full Professorship in Historical and Systematic Theology at Emanuel University of Oradea, in his native Romania, where he also supervises doctorates in theology at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School within Aurel Vlaicu State University of Arad.
Following his bachelor in pastoral theology (BTh) from the University of Bucharest, Corneliu pursued doctoral studies at the University of Aberdeen (PhD in ecclesiastical history), Tilburg (ThD in Dogmatic Theology), and Pretoria (DD in Systematic Theology), as well as a habilitation at the Reformed Theological University of Debrecen (Dr. Habil. in Religious Studies). His current research focuses on religious anthropology, education, and culture based on the notion of ecodomy with a focus on Romania’s Communist / Post-Communist Eastern Orthodoxy and South Africa’s Apartheid / Post-Apartheid Indigenous Religions.
