Join us in Amsterdam for a groundbreaking exploration of climate, society & the arts
-knowledge meets creativity, and ideas transform into action-

CARAVANE, the Art Fusion Project

GIRES, the Global Institute for Research, Education & Scholarship, invites you to an interdisciplinary dialogue on climate change, society, and the arts as part of the CARAVANE Project, a European Union Creative Europe initiative.
CARAVANE fosters artistic exchange, sustainability, and social transformation through co-creation labs, artistic exchanges, and festivals. By bringing together artists, communities, and scholars, the project explores how art can inspire resilience and action in response to climate change.

To advance this mission, we are hosting a conference and open discussion at the KIT Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam, a global leader in climate change research, sustainability, and public health; it’s a space for collaboration, exchange, and action.
More than a conference, this event is a space for collaboration, innovation, and meaningful exchange on the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of climate, society, and the arts.

A space for open dialogue

We invite scholars, researchers, artists, activists, policymakers, and engaged citizens to take part in an interdisciplinary dialogue on climate change and its impact on society, policy, and culture.
Through critical discussions and creative engagement, we will explore both practical and theoretical responses to the climate crisis through the lenses of scientific research, policy insights, artistic expression, or lived experience.

Engaging Artists in Climate-Driven Art

Beyond academic discussions, we call on artists working in any medium to join the conversation:

🎨 Visual Arts (painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media)
🎭 Performance Arts (theater, dance, experimental performance)
🎥 Digital Media (film, animation, virtual reality, AI-generated art)
📖 Literature & Spoken Word (poetry, storytelling, creative writing)
🎵 Music & Sound Art (composition, sound installations, environmental recordings)

Opportunities for Artists

Selected artists will have the chance to:
✅ Showcase their work in an interdisciplinary setting
✅ Participate in discussions on art, climate change & activism
✅ Engage with researchers & policymakers to explore new ways to merge art & advocacy

This is an open call for artists who see creativity as a force for climate awareness & transformation.
